Speaker A:

There is, unfortunately, no escaping physics. Bound by the speed of light, even information must take its time to get birds going. And as we move farther into the void, that time grows until the distance becomes unspeakable.

Speaker B:

Greetings, Private Francisco. Francisco, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is Crystal Chrysalis, a behavioral health specialist for any soldier in need. Apologies for cutting into your message to your mother and for essentially babbling nonsense. My outbound message was never supposed to be sent. I was incredibly delirious from the Gramonteon Flu, so that checks out for the weird poetry. From what I've heard in your last message, it seems like you've headed into battle. Stars guide you. I hope you make it back. Please note that my link signature goes out to any soldier who needs help. I don't really know why it wasn't recognized. Another thing I have to look into. While I have your attention, may I inquire on a few things that have been bothering me? I promise it's strictly to satisfy my curiosity, and it will not be an attempt to psychoanalyze you. Perhaps I can find a way to help soldiers in need, too. I understand if you choose not to answer or if this inquiry is not welcome. I've never been on a battlefield. Is it true that while walking along the trenches, there is a profound smell of rust? What does it feel like to hear the whisper of the reaper in your ears? What is it like to hear the song of death through the lonesome nights? Apologies. As I know, each soldier has their own story, and each story has its own truth. I want to know more about the horrors of war, the aching, the gut wrenching, and the traumatic experience of those who are dead. We only have vague memories of them and the knowledge of who they were. I'm sure we both lost some comrades in battle, and we missed them dearly. When was the last time you visited their memorials? And who are we supposed to blame for their deaths? The opposition? The universe? Our own failings? Hopefully, there'll be peace soon. Good luck. Stay safe.
