There is, unfortunately, no escaping physics bound by the speed of light. Even information must take its time to get birds going. And as we move farther into the void, that time grows until the distance becomes unspeakable.

Private Fransisco Franco

Look, I didn't want to do this. I didn't want to reach back out to you. Chrysalis, after your last message, frankly, I don't think that I can trust that you are who you say you are. Honestly, I probably shouldn't have trusted it from the start. The armada's mental health support is notoriously hard to get hold of. But you just happened to be on the line right when all this was about to happen, and I'm not getting any other messages in, not even from Ma. Let's just say that I don't think you've got my best interests at a heart. But on the other hand, you're not currently actively hunting me and everyone else on this ship. That thing, that creature, that alien, it's been back again twice. Nobody knows how to deal with it. We've lost almost 60% of personnel either due to straight up death or because they got hurt bad enough to earn an express cryo. Cricket back to the core like Woo. Command is as close to panicking as any of us grunts have ever seen him. We can't touch it anymore. It shows up, rips up another chunk of the ship, kills a few dozen people, and then leaves again. I think it's torturing us on purpose. Like I said, it doesn't seem like an animal. It's smart. Whatever it's trying to do, it's doing it with intent. And you are the only person out there who seems to have any ideas at all as to what to do with it. I overheard the officers talking the other day. They've been trying to get intel on this thing from Centcom, but keep being told that they don't have clearance. I don't know why they're surprised. We get told we don't have clearance for shit that would keep us alive all the time. It's been too long since they were boots on the ground, I guess. Or they went to officer school or some shit. But yeah, you started to mention something last time. Some kind of chemical, maybe, or micro tesserax or some kind of cylinder? You said a bunch of stuff. It didn't make much sense to me. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Honestly, I was kind of hoping you'd follow up with more without me having to ask for it. But beggars can't be choosers, I guess. It's been weeks, and nobody here's had any good ideas. Hell, somebody even tried setting a Gibson bomb to blow when it ripped open a bulkhead and it managed to stop it from going off. I don't know if it diffused it or hacked it or what, but like I said, it's not an animal. So figure out whatever the fuck people words you were looking for, because I and the rest of the crew do not have time to wait anymore. Maybe this is a game for you. Hell, maybe you're that thing out there. I don't know. But if you do want to help, maybe save some lives, give me something to work with here. It's dark out here, Chrysalis, and somehow you are the only light I've got. Also, if you want to let me know whatever the fuck you are that people words aren't familiar for you, that'd be neat, too. That's it, I guess. And, hey, while we're taking long shots, if you're responsible for why I'm not getting any broadcasts from anyone except for you, can you cut that shit out? Not even fucking month old grabstick matches are coming through anymore. And honestly, I'd like to be able to say goodbye to Ma before I get sucked into space through a whole breach made by a malevolent alien serial killer that likes to play with its food. Bye.
